Over the past several years my work's primary focus has been on Corporate films, Advertising, Marketing, and so on. Well, even though I still plan on doing those types of films, I am now focusing on a new realm of Film-making, Event Cinema. Think back to some of your most fond memories, some of the best memories you have with your friends and family. Remember back to those memories that you reminisce about by looking at pictures on your phone or an old photo book. We all have these memories, memories we want to remember for a lifetime. Weddings and Quinceaneras are special times in the your life. There is a lot of joy in capturing these moments in an artistic way for you to remember for years to come. That is why I have decided to adventure into event cinematography. To say the least it is a lot of fun! Currently I am booking pre-shoots with clients with up coming weddings and Quinceaneras.
My Take on Event Cinema
I have been looking at event cinema for some time now. There is a wide range of "video" that one can obtain when looking for a motion picture for their special day. Of course we have all seen the basic camcorder on a tripod in the back of the church that simply records the entire event. If you are looking to hire someone to do this... please don't. With today's tech anyone can set up a camcorder and just record a wedding or event. Recently there has been a surge of new event motion pictures, these are actual films, they are stories being artistically told through the use of high quality cameras, sound, movement, and light. This is not something anyone can do. The task of telling the story of a wedding or Quince is much more difficult. It requires the use of story telling skills, advanced editing, higher end cameras and lighting. But enough with the technical nonsense. The end product speaks for itself. Event cinema is the perfect way to capture the emotion, and essence of it all because the film is actually telling a story, like a film from Hollywood.
What's the Cost?
Most people when they see the samples of my work the first thing out of there mouth is... "Wow, I couldn't afford that." Yes, The films do cost money, but it isn't as much as you probably thought is was. The first thing I always ask clients is what their budget is. That allows me to create a package that is both affordable for my clients and profitable for me. Cost on these films is down a good amount compared to 5-10 years ago. I shoot with DSLR cameras that shoot HD video. These cameras are invaluable to me because they are relatively inexpensive compared to a cinema camera and the images they produce are absolutely beautiful. Between these cameras and my ability to utilize these cameras to their maximum capabilities I am able to rely on my equipment to produce high quality images. So, by keeping my overhead down I am able to offer my clients a lower cost.
